TORBAY is set to have its own show for the first time in years.
A group of South Devon motoring enthusiasts are organising the event on Paignton Green on Saturday, April 4, 2015.
The Torbay Motor Show will be another first show of many to come, like this for many years to come. organised by a team with a good track record for putting on events in the Bay.
the event is expected to be a way to get the 2015 show season under way, and with so many events coming in 2015, it will sure be a busy one for us and many of the clubs we like to jump in and say hi to all. Torbay is such a great place to have a show, especially with the nice weather coming from the blue sea water nearby.
Torbay Scoobies will be at the show and doing there pop pop bang bang when they leave and arrive, so make sure you pop over to there club display, as there will be a few there and all very well looked after.
There will be a show & shine comp which we will be giving away a free Car Shoot worth over £200 with Prints. There is another one to watch out for which is the Best In Show Award, so make sure you keep polishing……

There are a total of 10 trader pitches available on a first come first serve basis, size is 5m x 5m at a cost of £100 each.

There are a total of 21 club display areas, size 20m x 10m, allowing each club to display vehicles at a cost of £7.50 per vehicle.

We speak with the Show’s Chairman Terry Butcher who will tell you what is happening and why the show has been made to the charity they have chosen.
Organised by a team with a great track record for putting award winning events in the bay for the last five years, the Torbay Motor Show will be the first of a new series of motor shows. “Our intention is to showcase the automotive sector in Torbay and South Devon” said show
chairman Terry Butcher, “and it is our intention that there will be dealers, traders, car clubs and special vehicles on display.”
“There will be a show and shine competition with class awards, as well as the all important award for ‘Best in Show’. The proceeds from the showing cars and visitors will go to our chosen local charity ‘ACE’ of Brixham, so a good turn-out will be a great help to them.”
“ACE support disabled adults in Torbay by providing accessible, varied learning activities. They are based in Brixham but serve Torbay, which has a higher than average population of disabled people.
ACE reaches out to them and their carers bringing a special meaning to their lives by replacing loneliness and boredom with friendship and learning. “
“We think they do a really worthwhile job and over the next couple of years will face severe funding cuts and therefore we think they are worthy of our support.”
“We hope to have as wide a selection of vehicles as possible and we aim to bring together classic, retro and vintage vehicles, as well as up to date models from local vehicles.
Race and rally cars will join together with hot rods and customs, as well as custom and off-road cars, VW’s and kit cars.
We shall also hope to bring together some of the alternatively fuelled cars of the future, especially electric, where South Devon has some interesting projects underway.”
One of the organising team is Jerry Burgoyne, who will also be exhibiting his Group 4 Ford Escort Mark 1 and which he uses to compete in the Classic Sports Car Club Mod sports and Special Saloon series.
Jerry, who lives on the outskirts of Exeter, normally skippers super tankers, but when not doing so enjoys nothing more than putting his foot down around the race circuits of the UK.
“Modsports and special saloons draws a wide variety of cars” said Burgoyne, “each one is can be highly modified with my Escort being the least modified. Most of them are one-off light weight space frame type vehicles, so I’m always fighting an uphill battle.”
“This year we have raced at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Mallory Park and Silverstone, with the last round due to take place up in Cheshire at Oulton Park.
We’re always travelling around the country, so with no major race circuits down here in the South West it will give us a chance to show off the classic shape of the Escort to the people of Torbay and South Devon.
