Dutch Time Attack Takes on the Blue Hyundai Genesis Coupe
We met up with the girl behind the wheel and just wanted to get in the car and drive full pelt on the famous TT Circuit in Assens.
Comments from Tatiana Golovleva on there trip to the circuit:
Few hours we drove to Assen I spent in thoughts that I have never raced this season on the wet track. The surprise was waiting for me already on the tech commission. After checking of the Kill-switch button, the engine error immediately lighted.
After some time we solved the problem and I went out to drive the warming-up laps. The first lap made it clear that the day would be very nervous. Track was too slippery, Genesis was thrown from side to side, I made mistakes in gear shifting and a hard 360 turn at the beginning of the start-finish straight as a result. Some corners were driven completely in drift.
it was very very cool! Only one thing upset me – my semislik tyres did not work at all.
I was surprised by a pretty good time in warming up, and then checked the car over before heading out to drive the qualification. The first few laps were wasted – too many participants on the track at the same time.
Tyres still did not work properly, however, I tried to do my best, At the end of the qualification, I made one more mistake in the late braking and hardly got into the gravel. Where, of cause, I was “sitting”, till the end of qualification. Finally, safety car pulled me out. While the car was cleaning of tons of gravel, I went to check the lap time. 1st place in German TA qualification. Wow! Yes, I needed to compete for the podium.
Closer to the Final the track dried, Everybody seemed to be pleased of that, but I was tired. It is difficult to adapt to dry track, when you have trained all the day on the wet one with wide lines and smooth braking.
Especially as I had been to TT-circuit Assen only one time before, and to be honest, finally I did not completely adapted. I know that I could drive this track faster. In addition to everything, in the battle round I caught up the car of other participant and lost some time.
3rd place as a result, But I’m really happy! This season was very difficult for me: the lack of sponsorship, new tracks, constant technical problems. This cup is a result of my work and work of Jeroentje.nl team who supported me! Thanks to them for all there effort and work! Hope to see you all next season!
